Faugères is a picturesque village in one of the prettiest areas of the Languedoc and makes for ideal Holiday Accommodation in the south of France and located within the Haut Languedoc Natural Park. It is less than 15 minutes drive from the towns of Hérépian and Bédarieux which have all services and supermarkets. It is 30 minutes from the historic towns of Béziers, Pézenas, 40 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches and 1¼ hours from the airports at Montpellier or Perpignan.
Faugères is a historic village with walls and buildings still standing that date back to the 11th century. It is overlooked by the 16th century windmills, which have been restored. The village (population 350) is quiet and the people are friendly and welcoming. It has a small grocery shop, a filling station and a good restaurant which has a well priced lunchtime menu. Last year Faugères produced 8 million litres of wine, so feel free to taste some at the local winery.
The climate is warm and sunny for most of the year with approximately 300 days of sunshine. Summer temperatures can reach the mid 30's, often they are in the high 20’s and spring and autumn temperatures are generally in the 20's.
The house is in a beautiful situation on the edge of the old village, facing south. The vaulted ceilings and many windows give this small house a very light and spacious feeling inside.
There is an East facing terrace with a pergola, which is perfect for breakfast in the sun; it is shaded from the hot sun by lunchtime. There is also a barbecue and a rotary clothes drier on the terrace. There is off street parking on the gravel drive or on the street under the shade of a tree.
The house is on two levels. On the ground floor is a bedroom with a double bed and fitted wardrobe, a well equipped modern kitchen with a combination gas and electric cooker, dish washer and fridge/freezer, open plan dining room and lounge. There is a w.c. and hand basin downstairs. Upstairs there is a bedroom with a double bed and attached dressing-room. A full bathroom is upstairs with an over the bath shower and a w.c. The house is very well insulated with double glazing and electric panel heaters through-out. There is a washing machine and TV with Free Sky channels. Our normal changeover day is Monday but we can often be flexible on this.
